Posted by Kacee ON May 2, 2011 • Moto2 Comments

Metal Mulisha team rider, FMX hero, Baja racer and off-road truck pilot Jeff “Ox” Kargola succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash while participating in the Rip To The Tip Baja ride this past Friday. Killer Dana sends out our warmest wishes to the friends and family of this amazing guy.

“Words can’t express the emotions I am feeling. I love Jeff like a son and he was riding with all of his best friends he grew up with in San Clemente,” said Cameron Steele.

Jeff ‘Ox’ Kargola, a Southern California freestyle racer, died Friday from injuries sustained in a crash on day two of the”Desert Assassins’ 2011 Rip to the Tip” motocross competition in Mexico, an event that takes riders along the length of the Baja Peninsula in an eight-day, 1,300-mile race to Cabo San Lucas over mountains, beaches and deserts, reports the LA Times. He was 27.

Kargola, born Nov. 29, 1983, was a member of the Metal Mulisha FMX team who started riding at age 12. He became a professional racer at 16 and competed in Moto X events at the X Games every year from 2001 to 2010. He won a silver medal for best trick at Winter X in 2005, ESPN reported.

Since debuting the trick, Monea has been the center of attention in the action sports world and he even landed himself a spot on the Nitro Circus Live tour roster at the first round of the Regional Australia leg of the tour in Newcastle, where he pulled the trick ramp-to-ramp for his first time-ever (video above).

“I was so nervous all show waiting for my segment to come up and I am so pumped to have landed it. That was probably the best 30 seconds of my life!” said Monea after the show.

LUSK Memorial Day Ride Recap

Posted by Kacee ON February 10, 2011 • MotoVideoComment

February 9, 2011 marked the two year anniversary of the passing of Metal Mulisha team rider Jeremy Lusk. Jeremy was a freestyle motorcross rider from San Diego who was known for his innovative freestyle tricks and had gold and silver medals to prove it. In 2009 while attempting to land a “Hart Attack Indian Air Backflip” in a freestyle competition in Costa Rica, Jeremy sustained severe injuries causing cardiac and respiratory failure.

To celebrate in his memory, the Metal Mulisha team invited everyone to come celebrate and ride at Pala Raceway for a day to come hang out, ride, eat some Chronic Tacos! The morning started off with strong winds and a “no ride” rule enforced but by 9:30 the Vet Track was opened and the fun began. It was a day of reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones, and good old riding fun.

Supporting brands that came out in addition to Metal Mulisha were Alpinestars, MSR, Rockstar Energy Drinks and Chronic Tacos.
