Kelly Slater at the Cosmic Creek
The Cosmic Creek is coming up this week, so that means the surf must be coming up too. Every year, this event not only brings out the best in the surfing community, but it also brings the ocean to life. This year looks to be the same from what I can gather off the various forecasting sites. While most of the week will be pretty small and we will have wind and clouds through Thursday, a weak Santa Anna should form at the end of the week and a clean southern hemi swell should be showing just as the first heats hit the water on Saturday morning. By the time that the pros and legends are drawing boards for their final heats on Sunday, this swell should be peaking with some overhead sets pushing against the draining afternoon tide. There could also be some decent NW windswell crossing things up by that point making things interesting at Middles as well as Point. We have a fresh stack of boards for this year’s event, so every single entrant is a contender for the title. Bring down a board of your own because it looks like it both days will be solid days for all day surfing!
